Data services
Data services provide access to data drawn from one or more underlying information sources. Compared to traditional services, data services are model-based, providing richer and more data-centric views of the data they serve; they often provide both query-based and function-based access to data. In the enterprise world, data services play an important role in SOA architectures. They are also important when an enterprise wishes to controllably share data with its business partners via the Internet. In the emerging world of software-as-a-service (SaaS), data services enable enterprises to access their own externally stored information. Last but not least, with the emergence of “cloud data management”, a new class of data services is appearing. We My3tech make sense of these technology trends by reviewing data and examining approaches to service-enabling individual data sources, creating integrated data services from multiple sources, and providing access to data in the cloud.
